1) New Chinese
Medicine journal
to be launched: Call for Papers
Chinese Medicine is a new peer-reviewed open access journal published
by BioMed Central and indexed by PubMed and to be launched in early
2006. As an open access journal, Chinese Medicine will allow readers
worldwide free access to the content, immediately on publication.
Chinese Medicine will publish outstanding original research,
comprehensive review, as well as mini-review articles on all aspects
of Chinese Medicine. The journal will offer authors efficient
refereeing, rapid publication, and high visibility of accepted papers.

available: Assistant Professor/Tenure Track
in Holistic Health/Health Education–Eastern Perspectives
The Institute for Holistic Healing Studies and
the Department of Health Education
College of Health and Human Services, San Francisco State University
The Institute for Holistic Healing Studies (IHHS), within the
Department of Health Education, is seeking a Assistant Professor to
teach undergraduate courses in the Holistic Health emphasis area in
the department of Health Education. Courses may include Holistic
Health: Chinese Perspectives. Along with teaching, the position
requires scholarly publication, developing a program of externally
funded research, and university/community service, including
participation in both the Holistic Health and Health Education faculty
activities.
Candidates must possess a doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, OMD, ND or
equivalents). IHHS is especially interested in individuals whose
empirical scholarship relates to Alternative Health/Complementary and
Alternative Medicine (AH/CAM), preferably with expertise in Asian
cultures and healing traditions (including TCM, Ayurveda, Tibetan
Medicine), and holistic/systems research, ethnobotony, shamanism,
mind-body healing, history of medicine, ethnography, demography, or
other areas with relevance to AH/CAM. Pertinent training can include
Anthropology, Asian Studies, Biology, Human Ecology, Medicine,
Psychology, Public Health, Religious Studies, and Sociology. Interest
in online instruction and creative pedagogy is also valued. Possessing
an MPH degree, licensure/training in a traditional medical system, and
being bilingual in a relevant language are desirable.
Application review begins December 15, 2005 and continues until the
