Medicine, Epidemiology and Health Economics, I would like to welcome you to the
1st European and German Congress for Integrative Medicine and invite you to take
part in two days of extensive exchange.
The
theme of the congress is `The future of comprehensive patient care'. Leading
practitioners such as Prof. Gustav Dobos, Prof. Eckhart G. Hahn, Dr. George
Lewith, and Prof. Umberto Solimene will present their innovative views on
mainstream and complementary medicine at the International Congress Centre
(ICC). On November 9, congress participants and other experts will make

of Health (NIH) are seeking exceptional candidates for the
position of Deputy
Director, National Center for Complementary and
Alternative Medicine (NCCAM),
to further the Center's complex mission. The
NCCAM Deputy Director is the
principal advisor, agent, and representative
of the NCCAM Director in leading
the organization's conduct and support of
basic, translational, and applied
research, research training,
science-based public information efforts, and
other research-related
programs with respect to identifying, investigating,
and validating
complementary and alternative treatment, diagnostic, and
prevention
modalities, disciplines and systems. The Deputy Director has
extensive
leadership responsibilities and authority to act and speak on
the
Director's behalf.
This position offers a unique opportunity for a
highly talented individual
to assist the NCCAM Director in providing strong
and visionary leadership
to an organization dedicated to developing the
science base for
complementary and alternative medicine through rigorous
research studies.
The Deputy Director assists the Director in developing and
implementing
the organization's strategic plans and policies, allocating
resources, and
coordinating programs nationally and internationally. The
Deputy Director
plays a crucial role in advancing the research training
efforts of the
Center; in harnessing technology to accelerate research
progress; and in
communicating with investigators, government officials,
interested groups
and the public regarding research advances and emerging
opportunities for

Applicants must possess an M.D.,
Ph.D., or equivalent degree in a
biomedical field related to the mission of
NCCAM and have professional
experience reflecting a broad scientific
background and experience in

capability to plan and direct
research programs of national and international
importance; and have the
ability to communicate with and obtain the
cooperation of national and
international organizations and individuals who
